The Changing Face of Giddings & Lewis

Dear Visitor,

We've made significant investments and changes in our facilities over the last few years. With these upgrades, improvements from our Six Sigma program and our exciting new products, we're transforming the way we do business. We would love to welcome you in person for a tour, but in the meantime, browse through the following photos to see the heart of our operations, the Fond du Lac machining and assembly areas.

Machine Shop
Giddings & Lewis Boring Mills and Vertical Lathes are hard at work in our machine shop producing parts for new G&L Machine Tool and subcontract customers. Here's the most recent addition, our VTC 1600. The machine shop also employs the latest G&L boring mills and large horizontal machining centers like the HMC 410 shown.

Assembly
We travel now into the machine assembly area. Within the separate assembly areas for VTCs, HBMs and HMCs, skilled assembly personnel build and inspect each machine with careful attention to quality.

Unit Assembly
Sub-assemblies for all G&L machine tools are assembled in the unit assembly area.

Headstock Assembly

In a climate controlled room, our headstocks are assembled and tested.

Parts Storage

Giddings & Lewis machine tools last decades. Ever wonder how it is that we have parts on hand for that many machines? We do it with the help of our ASRS or Automated Storage and Retrieval System. The ASRS is capable of housing hundreds of thousands of parts.
